Simulating quantum repeater strategies for multiple satellites

Abstract A global quantum repeater network involving satellite-based links is likely to have advantages over fiber-based networks in terms of long-distance communication, since the photon losses vacuum scale only polynomially with distance – compared exponential optical fibers. To simulate performance such networks, we introduced a scheme large-scale event-based Monte Carlo simulation repeaters multiple memories that can faithfully represent loss and imperfections these memories. In this work, identify key distribution rates achievable various satellite ground station geometries for feasible experimental parameters. The power flexibility toolbox allows us explore strategies parameters, some which arise more complex, multi-satellite scenarios. As primary result, conclude kHz range are reasonably attainable intercontinental communication three satellites, one carries memory.
